    Description

Item up for sale is the original and complete (20 page,) October 2nd, 1954, edition of the New York Daily News, newspaper; the lead story of the day came out of the sporting world, on the field of baseball, where the New York Giants of "Coogan's Bluff" fame had just gone up 3-0 in the World Series against the powerhouse Cleveland Indians of the American League, who had just come off a record breaking season that saw them win 111 games in a 154 game season. The Series had started off in dramatic fashion when the "Say Hey kid," Willie Howard Mays Jr., made "The Catch," snagging Vic Wertz's line drive in front of the outfield wall with his back turned to the infield! The Giant's would later go on to sweep the Indians, winning their first championship since the 1933 campaign. The Giants were on borrowed time in New York however, as 1958 would see them leave the fabled Polo Grounds, and the shadows of the majestic Coogan's Bluff, that overlooked the Hudson River. This is a great item fully described above.
