Description
This is a unique 1870/80s rare pose of a Gay Couple carte de viste (CDV) size trimmed loose, (what I believe is possibly a Chocolate Plate, not an expert) Ferrotype, Tintype Sixth-Plate image. It appears as if they are focused on someone off camera and away from the camera to the side as you would during a ceremony. Two unidentified men arm in arm and in full length standing pose normally seen used with marriage photos
One is wearing a hat, is clean shaven and wearing a pinky ring slightly visible on his right hand under magnification.
The other man is holding his hat, has a mustache and his pocket watch chain is visible on his vest.
Both of their faces are lightly tinted.
These men do not appear to be related. No resemblance to each other at all.
This item was from an album purchased from France by my late mother. Other than that information I
can not confirm the location of where this photo was taken.
Circa 1870s - 1880s
