1940 SCHWINN SUPERIOR RACER - 23"
Consigning for the grandson of the original owner!  Here's your chance to own a legitimate piece of cycling history.  Our eldest mechanic even placed a call into Schwinn, speaking with Richard, who seemed quite excited about the find!  Schwinn actually produced less of the Superior Racer than the Paramount adding to the rarity of such a find.
This bike as far as we can tell is very original.  We believe the bars, stem, wheels, crankset, headset and bottom bracket to be original.  The Dural hubs we believe were an upgrade but this comes from a time when Schwinn could sell you just about anything you wished to complete the bike.
The Brooks pantograph pillar seat post clamp and saddle could be original to the bike as they certainly appear to have worn with the rest of it, but we cannot know for certain.
We understand a bike of this nature will draw a lot of interest from people far and wide, so I'll state up front that we are not willing to ship this internationally. Also, we will ONLY ship the bike to the name and address used for payment.  Also, we will generate the label.  We are acceptable to local pickup.  This bike will ship in two boxes.  The frame and parts in one while the wooden wheelset will ship in wheel boxes for their protection!
If you have any interest in this bike at all, please ask questions before submitting offers or buying outright.  Normally we clean, lube and tune all consignments, but this will be sold as-is.  The originality and supreme scarcity of the bike is the reason for this.
We removed and reinstalled the seat post and stem to make sure they are not seized.  The pedals and BB could be overhauled if the intent was to ride.
This bike, as pictured is under 20lbs!!

We wiped off part of the bar looking for a maker, but no more.
We wiped off the chain in a couple places looking for the maker.
We degreased the drive side pedal to learn the maker.

Some minor adjustments may be necessary once you receive your bike. It is recommended that you have it assembled by your local bike shop.
