Description
I'm selling this beautiful example of American bike manufacturing! I
believe this to be a fairly rare model/year in this marvelous condition.
It even has the rare, perfect Starburst headbadge. I have restored
every component of the bike; every part was completely disassembled,
degreased, polished, broken & worn parts replaced, and reassembled.
This includes the Sturmey Archer 3 Speed hub, which shifts effortlessly.
The wheels were completely broken down, and each spoke and nipple was
individually sanded, buffed with steel wool, and polished; the wheels
were then reassembled and trued. The paint and decals are original; I
have touched up areas of the paint which had been scratched off, or
worn, to prevent rust. The grips and brake calipers are original, but
the bars are new, from Velo Orange. If you're going to ride the bike,
I'd recommend using this bar, as it's a very comfortable ride. However,
if you want the original bar, I'll include it; it's not been restored.
The pedals are original, and I only did a light clean on them; if you're
going to use this as a daily rider, I'd recommend some new, more grippy
pedals. Included, is the original generator head/tail light, which was
polished, and cable; I'm not sure if it works. I'll also include the original
Schwinn whitewall tires, which are in terrific shape, with plenty of tread left. This
bike rides like a new one! It has a new chain, new tubes/tires, new
brake pads, and new cables. 26" wheels - 20" frame - approximate 29"
stand over height. Comfortable fit for anyone 4' 10" to 5' 5. Local pickup in Brooklyn, or I can recommend my local bike shop, and you can get a quote for packing and shipping directly from them. I'm happy to drop it off for you, but I don't want to be involved in the shipping process.
