Description
This is bound volume of the Detroit News from Dec 1 to Dec 15. Includes newspaper magazines still attached and some comics but they are loose. Lots of great stuff in these newspapers. Daily comics include 1940 Superman although the Sunday comics did not have a Superman comic strip. Also there are built up sports stories on National Football League Championship that ended with Chicago Bears defeating Washington Redskins 73 to 0. Also a later story on how Coach Halas got 2 of the 3 top draft choices by trade in coming draft. A number of articles about Hitler and Europe limited resistance in 1940. Sports included College last week of regular games and how the Western Conference(Big Ten) refused to send a team to the Rose Bowl. Stories on high school football championships in Detroit, National Basketball League Detroit Eagles pro basketball team games. Red Wings and off season Detroit Tigers stories and other baseball stories. College game stories for Michigan college basketball teams. Great advertisements from Hudsons, Crowleys and others with lots of toys and items for the coming Christmas season. Fun read. A few pages have some light tears but overall is nice condition. Binding is a little loose on back pages but still Ok.
