    Description

    This is an antique tintype photo with a modern mount and mat. We have not removed the tintype because the presentation is so good.
    Depicts a young child in white (or light color) in a white (or light color) coffin.
    The coffin is barely larger than the child, obviously custom made for the sad occasion. Photographed from above, which is unusual.
    A bouquet of flowers has been placed between the child’s hands, and there’s a circle of petals.
    SIZE. Tintype: As we have not taken this apart, we cannot give an exact measurement of the tintype. It is approximately 3 1/4 x 2 1/8 inches. Modern mount and mat: Approximately 10 x 8 inches.
    CONDITION. Tintype: Light bends. Small indentations all over, but these don’t affect viewing. Modern mat: Some wear at corners. A bit of wear around edges. Front has a few scuff marks. Back has a few spots, a few scuff marks, and surface war at left and right.
    APPEARANCE. Good contrast. Exceptional composition. Strong content.
