Seal and Jewish items were found on the territory of the Trudolyubovka colony
Trudolyubovka, No. 5 - Jewish agricultural colony of the
Aleksandrovsky district of the Yekaterinoslav province, founded in
1848. On January 1, 1849, 429 people settled in the colony. According
to the 1897 census, 564 people lived in the colony, of which 496 were
Jews (88%). In 1903, a one-class colonial school was opened in
Trudolyubovka. In 1908, the colony had 660 inhabitants. On January 5,
1919, one of the bloodiest pogroms of the Civil War took place in
Trudolyubovka. 175 men of the colony were killed and burned alive. She
was literally wiped off the face of the earth. The residents who
survived left Trudolyubovka. The colony was not restored, its
territory was plowed up. Israel-Benjamin Levner (1862 - 1916) was born
in the Trudolyubovka colony, teacher, writer, publisher, compiler of
the five-volume collection of Jewish legends "Kol Agadot Israel"
(Hebrew, "All the Legends of Israel"), which were repeatedly
reprinted, incl. in many European languages.
