RARE 1/6 PLATE TINTYPE - TWO TINTED DOLLS - ONE WEARING A GUTTA PERCHA NECKLACE -YES, two dolls huh? Well the older looking doll seems in charge of her best friend... lets just say. Both are finely dress for their portrait and nicely posed. The one holding the smaller doll wears a rarely seen Gutta Percha necklace. I have rarely seen a child wearing one of these necklaces and at the bottom link is a silver boot. I am not sure what the significance of that might be? The image appears to be from the 1880's judging by the girls clothing style and the paper cartouche sleeve the image resides. If you are a collector of antique dolls or 19th Century one-of-a-kind photos of them, then you must consider this rare offering.
CONDITION
: Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of this cased image and as part of my description. The 1/6 size plate contains excellent contrast, tonal range and very good sharpness on both subjects.
The image has warm toned tinting applied to the older girls face...sorry, trying to stay consistent with my listing story. The cartouche paper sleeve is in very fine antique condition. I am certain you will be pleased with your purchase.
