    Description

RARE 1/6 PLATE TINTYPE - YOUNG MAN IN EARLY BASEBALL UNIFORM HOLDING OUT A BALL -
What an amazing early baseball tintype you are considering in this listing. The young man is captured standing against a fantastic painted backdrop and holding out a baseball like he is about to throw out the first pitch to start the game. He even rolled up his sleeves. He must have still been in his uniform either going or coming from a game on this day back in the later part of the 19th Century. Finding baseball related tintypes with a player in an action like candid moment are nearly impossible to find. Good luck to the winning bidder landing this HOME RUN image.

Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of this cased image and as part of my description. The sixth plate contains excellent contrast, tonal range and beautiful sharpness. The image is in great antique condition with some creasing through his chest area and consistent with age. The feeling of a spontaneous action shot is what makes this tintype a Home Run. A super addition to any baseball history collection.
