    Up for auction is an Original Historic Newspaper Headlining the News of the Death of President Roosevelt and the Swearing In of President Truman.
    This is the historic newspaper of April 12, 1945, that brought the sad news of the death of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and the swearing in of the interim President Harry S. Truman.  This is an "Extra" print of the Rock Island Illinois Argus.  Extras were printed only when the news was so important and historic that the editor felt it was necessary to hurry the printed story to the public. This is a complete 8-page paper.  It is filled with information and stories surrounding Roosevelt's life and also the latest news of the war and sports.

    The newspapers were larger in those days, measuring about 17 X 21 1/2 inches, doubling in size when opened.
